This section brings together four related services. Each deals with a different type of problem, but all begin in the same way: understanding the incident pattern, agreeing what evidence is required and concentrating resources on the places and times most likely to produce a useful result.
For repeated dumping on council land, private estates, access roads, industrial areas, construction sites and rural locations. The investigation may document the vehicle, the people involved, the route taken and the act of depositing waste, where this can be observed lawfully and safely.
For theft, trespass, criminal damage, fuel loss, material loss and suspicious activity affecting construction compounds, utilities, telecommunications sites, operational land and other infrastructure. This is targeted investigative monitoring rather than ordinary security guarding.
For recurring cable or metal theft and suspicious access affecting rail, communications, energy and related networks. Operations are planned around site rules and safety requirements and can work alongside an existing security or police liaison team.
For damage or theft involving street furniture, lighting, community facilities, housing estates, vacant buildings, plant, equipment and other assets provided or managed for public use.
A private investigation is most useful when a problem is recurring or there is a reasonable indication of when and where it may happen. A single unexplained incident with no likely time, route, location or person may offer very little to work with. By contrast, an incident log showing repeated evenings, particular access points, similar vehicles or activity around certain shifts can support a far more focused plan.
The aim does not always have to be identifying an offender. An organisation may need to understand how a site is being entered, whether losses are internal or external, whether an existing control is working, or which location should receive further security investment. We agree the decision the evidence needs to support before recommending people, equipment or deployment time.
For larger instructions, a short first phase can be more sensible than committing to a long programme immediately. The initial phase tests the suspected pattern and allows later deployments to be adjusted using evidence rather than assumption.
Our investigators are there to observe and record. They do not detain people, search vehicles, enter restricted land without permission or put themselves, the public or site staff at unnecessary risk. Before deployment, we agree who should be contacted if an apparent offence or immediate safety concern develops. Depending on the situation, that may be the client’s control room, security lead, enforcement team or the police.
Monitoring may involve one or more investigators, temporary camera equipment on property where the client has proper authority, or a combination of methods. Technology is not used simply because it is available. The choice depends on the question, the site, the likely movement and the evidence required.
The reporting is agreed at the start. A typical report may include a dated timeline, investigator observations, relevant photographs or video, visible vehicle details, a location plan and a record of any agreed notifications made during the operation. Where several deployments are completed, the material can be brought together in a summary that shows recurring times, routes, vehicles or behaviour.
Reports use measured language and distinguish direct observation from assessment. We do not promise that a deployment will identify an offender, that every registration will be visible or that another authority will take action. Our role is to provide a clear and reliable account that the organisation, its legal advisers or an enforcement body can review.
Public and infrastructure clients may need purchase orders, named authorisation, approved communication routes, site inductions, risk information, data-handling arrangements or a defined escalation procedure. These requirements can be built into the instruction. Sensitive details and operational information are limited to those who need them, and the scope is kept proportionate to the issue being investigated.
LPI is based in London and can arrange operations throughout the United Kingdom. Nationwide and multi-site instructions are planned individually so the quotation is clear about deployment time, travel, accommodation where required, equipment and reporting.
Public-sector, infrastructure, multi-site and retained investigations are quoted individually. This is usually clearer than publishing a low headline price that does not reflect the location, safety requirements, investigator numbers or reporting involved.
